When I set out to create my own website the main appeal to me was to be able to have control over the content and updates. I quickly learned how to create my own website, designed it and posted it online.
It initially had 5 pages and I was so proud and excited to finally have my website on the internet. After I posted it I began thinking about google rankings and how people would find me if my website was coming up on page 20 of google.
I researched this a little bit online and found articles telling me to list it with various search engines, which I did. Over a month later my website was still not coming up higher than page 20 on google which I knew no one would go to!
People would have to search using my specific company name and not the key words of the services I was providing. How would people know to type in my company name if they didn't know who I was or that I even existed?!
I was getting frustrated because there was no point having a website if no one could find me. That is when I found MJ Williams a SEO to get her help with my site.
When we first chatted about my website I felt great because she confidently told me all of the easy changes I need to make to improve my rankings. She pulled my website up and went through each page with me step-by-step.
I quickly made the changes she suggested. These were really easy changes to make that didn't take me very long to do. Within a couple of weeks my webpage was all of a sudden being found under specific search terms. My hits increased from 200 a month to 2000!
I was so excited because people were finally finding me. The great thing that this did was get me more instructors around the world which provided me with the opportunity to add more webpages and grow into a very large international company thanks to my online recognition.
After about a half a year I contacted MJ again to see how I could improve on my additional pages and individual instructors' pages. I went from having 5 pages to over 70.
Once again, she walked me through the different sections of my site suggesting simple things yet again, things that are fairly obvious but not unless you have that understanding and expertise on how the internet and search engines work.
There were several things I was doing wrong that once again were easy fixes. After making those changes my website now gets over 6000 unique hits a month and this number is growing all the time!
