While eBooks will certainly never completely replace bound books, they are certainly finding a huge place in the publishing world. There are already eBook clubs popping up all over!
When considering transportability, because the eBook is conveniently stored on your laptop or in your eBook reader, you can carry multiple books without the bulk involved in carrying numerous traditional books.
Other Potential Benefits of eBooks
To consider the major potential in eBooks, think of the day when all textbooks come in eBook format. A student will no longer have to carry huge, cumbersome backpacks full of textbooks. Instead, they will be able to carry a simple eBook reader.
Also, think of the potential applications for lawyers, doctors, salesmen, publishers, and more! The possibilities are mind blowing!
It is pretty amazing that twenty short years ago, this is something you would only have seen on Star Trek. I can't wait for the food replicator technology to finally be realized!
